About Us
Gooder-Henrichsen is an independent company devoted exclusively to the manufacture of open web steel joists and joist girders.
The company dates back to 1927, with roots as a Chicago contractor supplying caissons to projects that today make up the Chicago skyline. The late Bob Gooder, son of the founder, was a structural engineer who was an early adopter of the open web steel joist concept. A true “captain of industry,” he was instrumental in the acceptance and proliferation of steel joists as a framing system.
In recent years, the company has modernized its 110,000-square-foot facility, enabling it to supply more than 1,000 construction projects each year.
G-H has been a member of the Steel Joist Institute since 1980, and is an associate member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), and a member of the Association of Subcontractors and Affiliates (ASA) and the Building Trades Association.
