Gooder-Henrichsen is a privately owned, independent company devoted exclusively to the manufacture of open web steel joists and joist girders, and steel deck.
The company’s founding dates back to 1927, with roots as a Chicago contractor supplying caissons to projects that today make up the Chicago skyline. The late Bob Gooder, son of the founder, was a structural engineer who was an early adopter of the open web steel joist concept. A true “captain of industry,” he was instrumental in the acceptance and proliferation of steel joists as a framing system.
Since 2000, the company has modernized its 110,000-square-foot facility, enabling us to supply more than 1,000 construction projects each year. In 2015 Gooder-Henrichsen began production of steel deck.
Gooder-Henrichsen has been a member of the Steel Joist Institute since 1980, and a member of the Steel Deck Institute since 2015.
